Assetto Corsa Ferrari 312T preview

A little post on the TGM Online website that was shared on the Facebook pages of the Kunos Simulazioni staff, revealed that Friday’s update will contain two new cars.  The iconic 1975 Ferrari 312T Formula one car and the Lotus Exige 240R.  As reported yesterday, the update will also include updated AI routines, new clouds, improved lighting features with better contrast and sharpness levels and as usual some significant game engine performance and maintenance updates.

Only 50 Lotus Exige 240R cars have been build, making this a very exclusive sports car. 40 of them for the European market and 10 for Japanese customers.  The  Lotus Exige 240R is a basically a supercharged version of the standard car. A smart choice because a turbo tends to boost the mid-range before running out of breath at the top end while a supercharger gives you both mid and top end. This made the 240R very suitable as a track day car.  The Rootes-type Eaton M62 supercharger boosts the power to 243bhp. That is enough to give it a 0-100 km/h in 4 seconds and a top speed of 250km/h. Knowing that the car only weights 930kg, these numbers turn the Lotus in a little supercar.

WIth the 312T Formula 1 car Ferrari created a new and revolutionary car for the 1975 season.  It was named the 312 T, for transversale.   Ferrari used a transverse gearbox, that was mounted in front of the rear axle. This was designed to give the car a near perfect weight distribution,  resulting in superior handling. The Ferrari 312T  was piloted by Nicki Lauda and Clay Regazzoni who both added that extra edge when it came to insuring the success of the car.
