Derek Speare Designs – New Product Prototypes
For most Sim Racing enthusiasts out there, Derek Speare Designs needs no introduction. DSD produces a complete assortment of sim racing products, such as button boxes, precision machined wheel plates, wheel adapters, sequential shifters and more.
While the DSD product catalog already contains a vast amount of quality sim racing gear, there is always room for improvements and innovation. Dereck keeps on designing product prototypes which aim to enhance the functionality, economy, immersion and fun factor of the sim racing hobby.
Recently, Derek introduced some of his new idea’s and designs which are under consideration for release. Keep in mind that all featured products are prototypes, and will not necessarily make it to production. To find out what the community would prefer, Derek has posted a poll question on the official iRacing forum.
DSD CSL Panels for the CSL Elite Wheel
Much as the famed DSD CSW Panels, the DSD CSL Panels are ready to fit straight onto your Fanatec CSL Elite Wheelbase and will provide your setup with the necessary functions such as toggle switches, push buttons and two-way rotary encoders.
DSD Formula Wheel System USB
This DSD Formula Wheel will bolt straight onto a Logitech G27 wheelbase and provide you with an arsenal of on-wheel controls. Should this wheel become release ready, Derek is considering outsourcing the production to an expert wheel builder.
DSD Vector Button Controller
DSD Designs already retails a nice selection of sim racing button boxes. One of the newest prototypes is the originally shaped DSD Vector Button Controller. Currently, the design features 8 push buttons, 7 lever switches, and 4 rotary dials.
The DSD Type 4 Handbrake
Because of the recent popularity of Rally games and the upcoming iRacing DIRT Rallycross content, sim racing handbrakes might turn into a must have. with the DSD Type 4 Handbrake, Derek Speare designed a very compact and cost-effective solution.
Drop in Load Cell kit for the Logitech G25/27 Pedals
The DSD Load Cell kit for the Logitech pedal unit aims to transform the brake pedal of the G25/27 into a 200kg load cell unit without modifying any of the Logitech parts. This so-called “Drop In” modification is a perfect solution for those who are less keen on modifying individual Logitech parts, or for those who want to be able to revert to the original product configuration when needed.
