Inside Sim Racing -Panoz Roadster Test Drive

Darin of Inside Sim Racing has a look at the 1999 Panoz AIV Roadster add-on that was released with build 590 for rFactor 2.  Darin takes the car for a few laps arround the Loch Drummond track followed by a 5 lap race against 10 AI drivers. It had been a while since Darin checked out the ongoing development of the ISI product. Apparently his SLI based system had some issues with the rFactor 2 title, and Darin went out and got an nVidia GTX780ti singe graphics card to do the job.

At first Darin did not feel the idea of driving a Panoz Roadster on rFactor 2 would be appealing and maybe even boring, but soon was pleasantly surprised how much fun the Panoz Roadster can be. This lightweight open top Roadster is powered by a Ford 4.6 liter V8 engine, .The drifting ability combined with the rFactor Real Road feature does generate a very realistic and dynamic immersion feel.

Darin is also running the SimXperience SimVibe software that is triggering the ButtKicker powered tactile feedback system. He explains that the SimVibe software seems to perform better with rFactor 2 than any other simulation platform he tried it on. Your ISR host also reports that he was pleasantly surprised by the quality and awareness of the AI in the current state of rF2.  It has to be said, that since the release of build 590, rFactor 2 also looks a lot more solid. Remember that this is a project that is still a work in progress.
