iRacing – 2015 Mercedes-AMG GT3 License Agreement announced

Back in April, Kunos Simulazioni already announced that the 2015 Mercedes-AMG GT3 would become part of Assetto Corsa.

Today, iRacing.com announced that they also have reached a licensing agreement with Mercedes-Benz Accessories, and will build a digital version of the Mercedes-AMG GT3 for use in their online motorsport simulations service.

“We’re tremendously excited to be partnering with Mercedes-Benz,”said Steve Myers, Executive Vice President and Executive Producer at iRacing.com.  “iRacing and Mercedes-Benz actually had signed the licensing agreement awhile back, but we were waiting until we could announce the Mercedes-AMG GT3 was in production before we made our partnership public.   We’re thrilled that we’ll be adding the Mercedes-AMG GT3 to a lineup that is already brimming with world-class GT3 cars.”

Mercedes -AMG recently presented their new 2015 GT3 weapon at the Geneva Motor Show. The new FIA GT3 compliant racer features a lightweight aluminum space frame and aluminum bodywork further supported by a selection of carbon fiber parts such as the regulation bucket seats, air intakes, aerofoil rear wing, and diffuser.

Rather than re-engineering the AMG GT’s 4.0-litre Biturbo V8 engine, Mercedes -AMG decided to power the GT3 with the same and 6.2-liter naturally aspirated V8 that also served in the previous GT3 SLS model. The car is set to be shipped out to customer racing teams around the world by the end of 2015.
