iRacing – First Imola In-game Preview Screens

Back in December 2013 iRacing.com announced that it had reached an agreement with Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari (Imola) to build a laser-scanned version of the Italian circuit. On 16 April 2014, the iRacing team confirmed they were actually laser scanning the track and that development would start shortly after.

Since then, it seemed that the Imola track development was put on hold for quite a while, but today iRacing finally showcased some in-game previews from which it looks that the track build is nearing completion.

The Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari or Imola as it is mostly called hosted the Formula One San Marino Grand Prix. Sadly enough the track is most remembered for the fatal accidents of  Formula One drivers Ayrton Senna and Roland Ratzenberger during the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix. Imola is one of the few major international circuits to run in an anti-clockwise direction. The track is 4.933 km (3.065 mi) long and features 23 turns.
