Richard Burns Rally Oculus Rift DK2 test by GamerMuscle

Richard Burns Rally Oculus Rift DK2 test by GamerMuscle

A while ago we already posted a video by Betta Lines from his “Through the Lens” Series testing out the Kegetys mod that brings Oculus Rift DK2 VR support to the old, but awesome Richard Burns Rally.

Now GamerMuscle shares his look on the VR experience using RBR. We all know how exited GamerMuscle is about his Oculus Rift DK2, and once more he proves that the Rift can breath life into an otherwise dates game. For those who want to try out the RBR VR mod, but dont own the game, you can pick up RBR online at the Gamesplanet.com website for £7.99 / $11.00 / €9.00.

Kegetys got Richard Burns Rally to work with the Oculus by using a Direct3D “proxy” DLL. After some rewriting he got it working quite nicely and provided the mod for all to enjoy.

Kegetys VR support mod:

  • Oculus Rift DK1 and DK2 (DK2 preferred)
  • Full head-tracking support, including positional tracking
  • Stereo rendering with correct IPD
  • Virtual 3D HUD
  • Virtual menus

This VR mod does not work with direct-to-rift mode. The DK2 needs to be in extended mode.

Download here, you will need RBR version 1.02 with SSE executable.
