The BMW M3 E30 is an automotive icon, born from BMW’s desire to dominate touring car racing. Launched at the 1985 IAA Frankfurt Motor Show, it was primarily a homologation special for Group A racing, meaning BMW had to sell a certain number of road-legal versions to qualify its race car. This led to a production run far exceeding initial plans, making it one of the most successful touring cars ever produced.
