KW Studios announced that the BMW Motorsport M Hybrid V8 Hypercar will be coming to RaceRoom in the near future.
As a teaser, KW Studios published two in-game screenshots of the modern Endurance racer, and promised to show more footage during the next Gridtalk episode on June 19th.
BMW M Hybrid V8
The BMW M Hybrid V8 is a high-performance sports prototype racing car designed by BMW M Motorsport in collaboration with Dallara. It marked BMW’s return to top-tier endurance prototype racing after an absence of over two decades.
The endurance moster is powered by an eight-cilinder V-shaped Otto four-stroke twin-turbo engine that delivers 640 hp (477 kW) via a Xtrac P1359 7-speed sequential manual transmission.
The combustion engine is a development of the P66/1 naturally aspirated V8 engine used in the BMW M4 DTM in 2017 and 2018, significantly adapted with the addition of two turbochargers combined with a rear-mounted 50 kW (67 hp) spec Motor Generator Unit (MGU) supplied by Bosch.
The car debuted here in 2023, competing in prestigious races like the 24 Hours of Daytona, 12 Hours of Sebring, and Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta. BMW M Team RLL campaigns the car in this series.
BMW M Motorsport entered the M Hybrid V8 into the WEC from 2024 onwards. This includes the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans, where BMW is aiming for overall victory for the first time since 1999. Team WRT opera.es the BMW M Hybrid V8s in the WEC.
