Assetto Corsa United SportsCar Championship in-game preview

Kunos Simulazion has not yet released any official modding tools, but that does not hold back a few chosen ones within the modding scene. The International Endurance Racing Modding Group had already announced their plans to create a mod for Assetto Corsa based on the American United SportsCar Championship, and posted a small selection of development screenshots. Ultimately this is a very good thing to hear, since the last two years, multi-car modding has become somewhat of a lost art. The team is aiming at bringing all of the classes of the real world TUSCC to the Assetto Corsa Simulator. Not a small task as this would mean bringing in various models in the DP, LMP2, GT/E and GTD classes.

The International Endurance Racing Modding Group decided to create the mod with a mix of Scratch build models, converted models from other platforms and the already supplied cars in the Assetto Corsa Simulator. Next to the car models, the team also announced to be working on a version of the Long Beach Street Circuit. It is not known if this is a conversion or scratch build project.

Yesterday the modding team posted a preview video showing us a very early WIP of the TUSCC Chevrolet Corvette Daytona Prototype model on track at the original Magione circuit that comes with Assetto Corsa. Keep in mind that the footage of the car on track is basically a test model, and is in a very early stage of development.

You can check out the mod progress at the official IER Modding website.

All in all, this is a very ambitious modding project and getting it to a release state without compromising the quality might be a little underestimated. Since Assetto Corsa will most likely be a lot more time-consuming to mod, because of all its next gen features, it might take a while before this mod becomes public access. Never the less, let’s wish them all the best. The modding scene can use a few new modding groups.
