6e66o races the DRM Revival Mod

DRM Revival Mod

Long time Sim Racer 6e66o is a Simbin employe, but still loves his passion for racing classic cars in rFactor. So now and then he gets behind the wheel and has a blast in rFactor’s greatest mods. In this video we can enjoy some footage of the DRM Revival Mod by the DRM modding team. 6e66o is driving the BMW M1 on the Salzburgring. This track is created by Com8 who now is also working for the famous swedish developer as a track artist.

The DRM Revival mod can be called one of the best mods ever created for rFactor. In this mod the most famous cars from the Deutsche Rennsport Meisterschaft have been beautifully recreated. The fast and spectacular turbocharged DRM cars where raced from 1972 to 1985. The DRM championship was regarded as one of the most important German motor racing series of its time. Running on tracks such as the Nurburgring, Hockenheimring, Norisring and the Belgian Circuit Zolder.

The Group 5 series was divided into 2 groups. Division 1 was made up by iconic cars as the Porsche 935 Turbo, Lancia Beta Monte Carlo Turbo and the Zakspeed Turbo Ford Capri’s with engines ranging from 2000 cm ³ up to 4000 cm ³ and Division 2 cars with less then 2000 cm ³  like the Zakspeed Ford Escort, BMW 320i.  Many of the drivers have become household names in the international racing scene. Hans Heyer, Rolf Stommelen, Klaus Ludwig, Mamfred Winkelhock, Hans-Joachim Stuck, Harald Ertl and Toine Hesemans, to name a few.

Yours truly, still remembers his first encounters with the awesome turbo sounds, and huge backfire flames when visiting the Circuit Zoder track as a young chap. Gruppe 5 is the series that infected me with the Autosport virus when i was young, and it never went away. I have to say that the Group 5 era is the Motorsports time I miss the most. So its pretty cool the DRM Modding team have crafted this awesome mod as a tribute to one of the best racing series that ever existed.  When interested you can find the DRM Revival mod V2.02 by the DRM Modding Team here.
