A Look At the Clutch Open World Racer By Maverick Games

The independent Maverick Games studio, based in Leamington Spa, UK, was founded in 2022by Mike Brown, the former Creative Director of Forza Horizon 5. So it does not come as a surprise that the development debut of the studio is a cinematic open-world action driving game.

Maverick Games is working on “Clutch”, a triple-A photo-realistic Unreal Engine 5 driving game that lets you perform street races across Monaco and the surrounding French Riviera. Not exactly a racing simulator, yet pretty interesting, and visually stunning.

In this story-driven racing title, you’ll get to experience the underground street racing culture of the Midnight Collective. Theo and Cass Martial, siblings, become entangled in a conspiracy sweeping through the Riviera’s racing world. Rivalries intensify, and loyalties are tested as each pursuit plunges them deeper into a conflict that may threaten more than their future on the track. Live the dual life of a modern racing outlaw in a world of ambition, rivalry, and risk.

The game map is situated across three City Hubs: Monaco, Cannes, and Saint-Tropez, where you can navigate narrow city streets, long coastal highways, steep mountain switchbacks leading up towards the Alps, and the Verdon Gorge.

Alongside standard checkpoint races, players can also participate in “race-and-chase” missions or join multiplayer sessions where they can compete against fellow gamers. Furthermore, the game is highly customizable, letting you perform mechanical and cosmetic updates. Change body kits, paint, specialized modifications, custom steering wheels, racing seats, floor neon, and more.

Clutch is scheduled for a Spring 2027 release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
