ADAC SimRacing Expo 2020 Goes Digital

Due to the current Corona pandemic, mass events in Europe are not allowed to be organized. Also, Germany has implemented a set of rules and restrictions to ensure people’s health and safety.

Therefore, the organizers of the ADAC SimRacing Expo had to cancel this year’s edition of the popular Sim Racing tradeshow which was originally scheduled to be held at the 8,800 sqm Ring Boulevard Building at the German Nürburgring circuit from Friday 4 to Sunday 6 September 2020.

Nevertheless, the ADAC SimRacing Expo team is working hard to organize an event in digital form running a completely virtual concept Expo from December 11th to December 20th. Check out the official press release for more details.

Press Release:

A fitting end to the year: this year, the ADAC SimRacing Expo will be held completely digitally for the first time. The digital events will be entered in the calendar of SimRacing and motorsport fans from December 11–20, 2020. All offers are free of charge.

22 June 2020 – The organizers of the ADAC SimRacing Expo are reacting to the corona pandemic and converting the event planned for September at the Nürburgring into a comprehensive digital offer that will take place in December.

“Due to the current circumstances, it is unfortunately not possible for us to hold our rapidly growing event on-site at the Nürburgring this year. Nevertheless, we don’t want to leave our supporters outside in the cold and have therefore considered a comprehensive concept for an entirely digital version,” says Marc Hennerici, Managing Director of ADAC Travel & Event Mittelrhein GmbH.

Pure virtual motorsport in December

The two prestigious competitions for the SimRacing Trophy and the ADAC Digital GT500 team race will once again choose their winners this year. In the Livestream, the organizers will once again broadcast the prominent race series which are among the most important in the SimRacing scene worldwide. Already in the run-up to the event, fans have the opportunity to take part in community spin-offs of both competitions in order to prepare for the actual events in December and to get a feeling for the tracks and regulations. Further modalities and conditions of participation will be announced on time.

A second production studio at Cowana GmbH’s headquarters provides the trade fair character. Kevin Rohrscheidt, racing driver and motorsport journalist, will be leading through the program of individually produced digital content from mid-October at Langenzenn in Franconia. SimRacing fans will find here: tutorials, interviews, test reports, and product news from leading simulator manufacturers.

“This year’s decision for a completely digital offer was an unallocated one. We are aware of our responsibility as organizers especially towards our numerous visitors and we do not want to take any risks. I think that with our wide range of virtual motorsport activities in December, we will be able to attract our large fan base and celebrate a fitting end to the year. Next year, we are looking forward to welcoming numerous visitors to the Nürburgring again”, says Michael Wamser, Managing Director of Cowana GmbH and co-organizer of the ADAC SimRacing Expo.

News, reports, and videos

In order to shorten the time until December, the organizers in cooperation with the community and Keeponracing.de are launching a new web portal that will be available at www.simracing-unlimited.com by the end of September. Enthusiasts will find editorial contributions, reports, and videos on the subject of SimRacing – suitable for beginners and professionals alike.

The organizers continually publish further information on www.simracingexpo.de and on the social media channels FacebookInstagram, and Twitter.
