Forza Motorsport 6 Apex – Open Beta coming in May

On May 5, Turn10 Studios will release the open beta of the next chapter in the Forza Motorsport series. The Forza Motorsport 6: Apex title for Windows 10 is the first step in the future of the Forza franchise as it expands into the world of PC’s. And let’s not forget the game will be free of charge for all Windows 10 users.

The Windows 10 players will have the chance to race a diverse line-up of 63 beautifully detailed Forzavista cars featuring working headlights, opening doors, intricately modeled cockpit and exteriors, and a full damage model. The release version of Forza Motorsport 6 Apex will contain 20 track configurations across six locations, including night and wet-weather variants.

Players will be able to dive into a new career mode anchored by a 12-event “Showcase Tour”. The new “Spotlight Series” events will challenge players with unique automotive events that will be updated on a regular basis. As development continues, Turn10 Studios will continue to release updates and improvements to the game.

When the game was first introduced, it was a big disappointment to learn that there would be no wheel support in Forza Apex. This has now changed, and Turn10 Studios confirmed that wheel support is coming to Forza Motorsport 6: Apex and that the development team is busy working to ensure that Apex delivers the kind of wheel support, performance, and features that racing fans expect from a range of available hardware. Furthermore, it is also confirmed that you will be able to disable Vsync and the in-app framerate counter.

Combining DirectX 12 with Turn 10’s proprietary ForzaTech gaming engine will result in a graphically stunning racing game that supports resolutions up to 4K.

But that’s about all the good news we can share. Sadly enough, there is also a number of negatives to the upcoming release. Forza Motorsport 6: Apex will not feature an online multiplayer mode or the livery design editor. This is rendering the title pretty much useless for the core sim racing community.

Whether this may change in the near future is not yet sure.
