Gran Turismo 7 – June 2026 Free Update Preview – Prototype Racing Incoming

During the ‘Gran Turismo World Series’ 2026 Rd. 1 in Milan, Italy, Polyphony Digital has confirmed that the upcoming free June Update for Gran Turismo 7 will feature five modern cars from the World Endurance Championship (WEC).

If all goes as planned, the update should be arriving on June 11th. Alongside the usual fixes and features, the “Hypercar update” will introduce the following new content:

  • BMW M Hybrid V8 (LMDh)

The BMW M Hybrid V8 (LMDh) is a cutting-edge prototype built on a carbon-fiber monocoque chassis developed in partnership with Italian specialist Dallara. At its heart sits a highly sophisticated powertrain combining a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, derived from BMW’s high-revving DTM racing heritage. With a standardized spec electric motor, the car is generating a regulation-limited combined output of roughly 671 horsepower (500 kW).
  • Ferrari 499P (LMH)

The Ferrari 499P (LMH) represents the Prancing Horse’s triumphant, historic return to the top tier of endurance racing after a 50-year absence, famously securing back-to-back overall victories at the grueling 24 Hours of Le Mans. Built under the more flexible Le Mans Hypercar regulations, the Ferrari was designed with the entire chassis and bespoke powertrain developed completely in-house.

It features a mid-mounted 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 architecture driving the rear wheels. The engine is a heavily re-engineered version of the 296 GT3. This combustion engine works in tandem with a front-axle electric motor powered by an F1-derived 900V battery pack, granting the car an intelligent, temporary four-wheel-drive system that smoothly kicks in at high speeds.
  • Peugeot 9X8 (LMH)

The Peugeot 9X8 (LMH) is one of the most visually captivating and technologically daring hypercars ever built, omitting a traditional rear wing and generating its immense downforce almost entirely through advanced underbody ground effects. Peugeot evolved the design into the aggressive 9X8 2024 spec, meticulously shifting the car’s center of gravity and reworking 90% of the bodywork to incorporate a conventional rear wing.

Beneath its radical skin, it is powered by a high-revving, mid-mounted 2.6-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine that works in tandem with a front-axle electric motor-generator unit. Connected to a 900-volt high-density battery pack developed with TotalEnergies, the system smoothly transitions the car into an intelligent all-wheel-drive machine at high speeds, delivering a regulation-capped total of roughly 671 horsepower.
  • Porsche 963 (LMDh)

The Porsche 963 (LMDh) is a masterclass in combining historic motorsport legacy with next-generation electrified performance, built upon a regulation-specified LMP2 carbon-fiber monocoque chassis engineered by Multimatic. Porsche Motorsport heavily adapted the architecture of the 4.6-liter V8 engine from the road-going 918 Spyder super sports car, adding twin turbochargers to create a robust internal combustion unit that works alongside a standardized Bosch and Williams hybrid system.

This setup sends a regulation-capped combined total of roughly 671 horsepower (500 kW) strictly to the rear wheels via an Xtrac 7-speed sequential transmission. The design visually honors the legendary 956 and 962 prototype champions of the 1980s, while neatly integrating a continuous LED rear light strip that subtly mirrors the modern 992-generation 911 road car.
  • Official WEC Porsche 911 Safety Car (992)

The Official WEC Porsche 911 Safety Car (992), based specifically on the high-performance 911 Turbo S, serves as the ultimate track guardian deployed to maintain order and safety during chaotic World Endurance Championship events. Underneath its striking matte black and red official racing livery, it commands a potent 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged flat-six engine that punches out 650 horsepower (478 kW). This immense power allows the all-wheel-drive machine to rocket from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.7 seconds and reach a blistering top speed of 330 km/h.
