Gran Turismo TV-Series Or Movie In The Making

During a business briefing, Sony Pictures Entertainment CEO Tony Vinciquerra and President and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment Jim Ryan confirmed that the company is working on a TV-Series based on the long-running Gran Turismo franchise.

This is not an unexpected concept, as, in recent years, Sony Entertainment has been producing a number of different TV shows and movies based on some of its most successful IPs. Alongside the Gran Turismo based TV production, Sony already confirmed a God of War series with the streaming rights obtained by Amazon and an horizon based series that will be aired by Netflix. Furthermore, Sony also confirmed it has a number of Playstation movies and series in the works, including Ghost of Tsushima, Twisted Metal, and The Last of Us.

At the time of writing, Sony Interactive Entertainment had not yet shared any further details or release schedule regarding the Gran Turismo TV show.

Not long after the announcement, various social media channels claimed that Sony is not doing a TV series, but in fact, has started filming a Gran Turismo movie. The same sources also claimed Sony had contacted South African-Canadian film director Neill Blomkamp (District 9) to direct the movie.
