iRacing published a preview video showcasing the BMW M2 Racing (G87), which will be added to the base content package in the 2026 Season 3 release. In other words, the G87 will be free for all iRacing members. The iRacing 2026 Season 3 build is scheduled to be released tomorrow, Tuesday, June 9, 2026
The BMW M2 Racing (G87) is BMW M Motorsport’s entry-level, dedicated race car. Designed for customer racing, club racing, and one-make cup series, it bridges the gap between high-performance track days and professional GT racing, with an emphasis on low operating cost and high durability.
While the street-legal G87 M2 has a twin-turbo 6-cylinder engine, the official M2 Racing features a highly efficient 2.0L 4-cylinder in-line (B48 base) with M TwinPower Turbo engine to meet specific racing class structures and Balance of Performance (BoP) regulations.
The engine delivers 313 HP (230 kW) and 400 Nm of torque. All that power is transferred to the rear wheels via a 7-speed ZF 8HP automatic gearbox and gives the car a top speed of over 270 km/h – 168+ mph.
