Project CARS 2 Announcement – The Interviews

We are sure, most of you will have noticed that the Project CARS 2 pre-release hype is upon us. With the release of the official Project CARS 2 announcement trailer, it seems that Slightly Mad Studios have also partially lifted the media embargo. A significant number of game-play and interview videos have now begun to surface on the web.

Bandai Namco Entertainment UK and Slightly Mad Studios officially announced Project CARS 2 at their London headquarters and at a massive game showcase event that took place at the Mercedes-Benz Winter Training Ice Track in the north of Sweden. You might recognize this particular venue as it is also featured in-game.

While we already posted a significant number of game-play videos, we will now have a look at some of the interviews that took place at the previously named Pcars 2 events.

Alan Boiston of Team VVV visited the Bandai Namco Entertainment UK event and sat down with the creative director at Slightly Mad Studios, Andy Tudor. During the interview, Andy reveals some of the upcoming features in the next iteration of the new Project CARS franchise. Andy explains that they have researched many websites and social media channels in order to get an idea of the opinions shared by the community. Building on this feedback they have now tried to make Project CARS 2 suitable for both the casual gamer and the more demanding sim racer. Andy Tudor also homes in on the new Live Track 3.0 technology wich is expanding on the well received dynamic weather system seen in the original version of Pcars. Andy reveals some details about the new tire model and explains that VR is one of the important factors while developing Project CARS 2. It is confirmed that Project CARS will make use of the enhanced features provided by the upcoming Playstation 4 Pro and Microsoft Scorpio consoles.

Last but not least, Andy shares some info regarding the much talked about competitive racing license. As seen in other titles such as iRacing, the Project CARS 2 online racing system includes a matchmaking feature that will try to place similarly skilled drivers against each other so that the well-known online mayhem races are kept to a minimum.

The first 10-minute video below gamereactorTV Reporter Kero Kerttula interviews Andy Tudor and Stephen Viljoen who is the game director for Project CARS 2. Stephen explains that Project CARS 2 is still a WMD-powered project, but that they decided to make it less accessible in order to draw in community members who actually can contribute something to the development.

The GAMES.CH Swiss community gaming network was invited to the cold Mercedes-Benz Winter Training Ice Track in the north of Sweden. After some cinematic footage of the actual event, reporters Flitzy and Uli sat down with Stephen Viljoen and Andy Tudor to carry out their interview. While the initial introduction part of the video is in German, the actual interview itself is conducted in English.

While browsing the web for some interesting interview videos, we noticed a new publishing trend where a number of video publishers try to milk the YouTube revenue system by cutting a 6-minute interview into three separate micro publications. While some of them did contain some interesting info, we decided not to post them for the obvious reasons.
