Project CARS 2 – Ben Collins Interview

Alan Boiston from Team VVV met up with Ben Collins to find out a little bit more about his input as Physics & Handling Consultant on the development of Project CARS 2.

Fans of the Top Gear show will undoubtedly be familiar with the name Ben Collins. For almost eight years, Ben was the popular television motoring show’s anonymous racing driver, better known as The Stig. In 2010 Ben Collins announced an autobiography revealing himself to be The Stig, after which the BBC took the matter to court. It ultimately led to him being replaced as the famous driver in the White Suit. From that point on, Ben Collins once more focused on his racing career and his company that provides stunt coordinators for Commercial films and TV shows worldwide.

Not long after the Top Gear controversy, the Slightly Mad Studios head of studio Ian Bell, introduced Ben Collins as their Physics & Handling Consultant providing them with first-hand feedback while developing the original Project CARS racing game. Now that the British developer is working on the successful racing title’s sequel, Ben Collins is back on board, helping the Project CARS 2 development team to improve their handling and tire model.

Project CARS 2 the ‘ultimate driver journey’ will become available September 22 – 2017 for the PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Steam OS.

Professional racing and stunt driver Ben Collins was born on February 13, 1975, in Bristol, England.  He successfully competed in a number of international racing series from Formula Three and Indy Lights to the 24 Hours of Le Mans, V8 Supercars, the British Touring Car Championship, FIA World Endurance Championship and NASCAR. Ben Collins became most famous as the man behind The Stig character in the mega-popular TopGear television motoring show. More info at bencollins.com.
