Rennsport ESL Esports Announcement Teases Spa-Francorchamps & Mercedes-AMG GT3

Porsche 911 GT3 R (992) Coming To Rennsport

Today, Munich-based publisher Competition Company, in partnership with ESL shared some more details regarding the upcoming ESL R1 Esports Series which is utilizing the Rennsport online racing platform.

Interestingly, the ESL R1 promotion video showcases the Mercedes-AMG GT3 and the Belgian Spa-Francorchamps circuit, confirming both the track and the car as Rennsport content.

The Mercedes AMG will join the already included Audi R8 GT3, Porsche 911 (992) GT3 R, and BMW M4 GT3, while the Circuit Spa-Francorchamps will be added to the Rennsport track portfolio currently including the British Goodwood Hill Climb and German Hockenheimring.

The new Rennsport/ESL Esports Racing Series will run two seasons in 2023, featuring a prize pool of no less than €500,000.

The first 2 rounds of The ESL R1 Spring Season will be held on February 11-12 during the 2023 IEM Katowice event in Poland. Starting with round 3 on March 13, the championship will continue as an online event. The top 24 drivers of the Spring Season will then compete at the ESL R1 Spring Major at the Rennsport Summit on May 27-28 in Munich, Germany.

The championship will feature 12 teams of 4 drivers each. 8 of them are Rennsport partners, while the remaining 4 are wildcard selections from other ESL esports competitions.

The second season, named ESL R1 Fall Season, will start in August 2023 as online events and will end on November 23-25 during the DreamHack Winter event, in Jönköping, Sweden.

  • Round 3 – March 13, 2023 (Online race)
  • Round 4 – March 27, 2023 (Online race)
  • Round 5 – April 10, 2023 (Online race)
  • Round 6 – April 17, 2023 (Online race)
  • Round 8 – May 8, 2023 (Online race)
  • 2023 Spring Major during the RENNSPORT Summit on May 27-28, 2023

Closed Beta:

Back in September 2022, Competition Company initiated its Rennsport Closed Beta phase registration. Community members who want a shot at becoming a closed Beta Tester, can head over to the official RennSport website and fill in the necessary forms. You will then be added to the Closed Beta waiting list, and hopefully, get selected for closed beta access.

The Rennsport closed Beta was initially planned to launch at the end of 2022 but has been postponed until early 2023. For those who do not make it to the selection, an open Beta is scheduled to launch in the Spring of 2023.
