rFactor 2 – Radical SR3 XX Available

This week, it seems there is no stopping the dedication and hard work of the rFactor2 development team over at Studio 397.

After earlier releases of the Zandvoort 2020 update, the New York E-Prix track, and the Ferrari 488 GTE, Studio 397 is back with yet another awesome release. Fire up your rFactor2 racing simulator, and get behind the virtual wheel of the Radical SR3 XX.

The Radical SR3 XX sportscar for rFactor 2 is available via the dedicated Steam Store page for €4,99.

The Radical SR3 XX is the first production race car to feature AiM’s new solid-state technology, which controls not only power management but also a suite of data options and technology to help Radical drivers be the fastest in the field. The SR3 XX is the first car to feature AiM’s new Formula steering wheel technology.

The new solid-state Power Distribution Module (PDM) acts as the SR3 XX’s electrical heart, replacing a conventional wiring loom to send, store and process electrical data and telemetry quickly and more efficiently.

Drivers can choose between Radical’s proven 1340cc or 1500cc four-cylinder RPE-Suzuki engines to power the new model. Both are driven through a six-speed sequential gearbox with paddle shift and Quaife limited-slip differential and are coupled with a new-generation racing exhaust system.

Styling upgrades for the SR3 XX include revised LED race lighting, composite mirrors, and new rear-wing endplates. For additional comfort, new 60mm wider molded twin- and single-seat options have been introduced, offering greater lateral stability and safety.

The SR3 XX is the evolution of the best-selling race car in the world, the SR3 which was first introduced in 2001. While the styling mostly remained untouched with just a few key elements setting the XX apart from its predecessor, underneath it’s an all-new track weapon.

Radical knows that not just the car needs to evolve to be quicker, but that also drivers need the best tools to move forward and develop themselves. That’s the reason for all the new bits and pieces mainly by provided by AiM. The first thing noticed by drivers as the most prominent change is probably the new steering wheel. A brand new Formula style steering wheel, fully packed with technology normally only found in high-level single-seaters and Le Mans Prototypes. Functioning basically as the HUB, the new AiM steering wheel now gives the driver access to all kinds of new functionalities to access, evaluate, and analyze data, helping to improve on track.

The fresh SR3 XX is still powered by the 4th Gen RPE-Suzuki engine including a dry-sump oil system as standard. The power plant is hooked up to a six-speed sequential gearbox with paddle shift and auto-blip function, a Quaife limited-slip differential taking care of getting enough traction out of the corner.
