A Look At The BDH Active Shifter

BDH Active Shifter

Let’s have a look at the high-end BDH Active Shifter, designed and built in York, England, by BDH, and officially launched at the Sim Racing Expo in Dortmund, Germany.

The BDH Active Shifter for the PC (Windows) is the follow-up to the legendary H1 “Bazooka” Shifter, first launched in 2020, which was the first professional-grade H-pattern SIM shifter developed by BDH.

The Shifter is CNC-machined from aerospace-grade anodized aluminum and is designed to be solidly mounted on aluminum profile cockpits.

Unlike traditional shifters that use mechanical resistance, the BDH Active Shifter features a fully servo-driven force feedback system. Fully integrated with SimHub telemetry, the Active Shifter interprets real-time data from your sim without plugins or third-party software.

Engine RPM translates to haptic vibration. Clutch engagement modulates resistance. Drivetrain load changes gate retention. Every element is synchronized to what the car is actually doing, creating a one-to-one connection you’ve never experienced before.

The Active Shifter’s servo motor doesn’t just resist movement, but it actively responds to drivetrain behavior. Under hard acceleration, the lever holds firm, replicating torque retention. During gear grinding from a missed clutch, you’ll feel the kickback and vibration. This is mechanical authenticity driven by physics, not programmed patterns.

The integrated rotary encoder interface lets you adjust gate patterns, haptic intensity, and feedback levels without exiting your session. Switch from a 6-speed GT layout to a 4-speed touring car configuration in seconds. Calibrate clutch bite point for heel-and-toe perfection. Every setting is accessible at your fingertips, keeping you focused on driving, not menus.

Features:

  • Servo-driven resistance replicates real drivetrain loading
  • Feel engine vibration, gear grinding, and torque retention through the lever
  • Dynamic gate locking prevents mis-shifts under load
  • Adjustable haptic feedback intensity for every vehicle type
  • Zero-latency telemetry response via native SimHub integration
  • Customizable gate configuration from 4-speed to 6-speed layouts
  • In-session adjustment via integrated rotary encoder interface
  • Orientation-switchable for left or right-hand mounting
  • Aerospace-grade billet aluminium with anodised finish
  • High-torque servo motor with zero-latency response
  • USB plug-and-play

The BDH Active Shifter is available for pre-order at £1,700 (£150 off the £1,850 RRP). A £300 deposit secures your position in the limited first production batch, with the remaining £1,400 balance invoiced approximately 30 days before shipping in March 2026.
