The Kunos Simulazioni team had already hinted that they where perfecting the IA implementation in the development version of the Assetto Corsa simulator.
Head of the company and lead programmer Stefano Casillo, now posted a little preview of the ongoing work to perfect the artificial intelligent competitors in AC.
The video shows us an AI race in the Tatuus FA01 open wheeler at the Monza circuit. Keeping in mind that this is a work in progress, it already becomes clear the AI is behaving in a convincing manner. Overtakes seem believable and are not executed in an erratic fashion. It is not confirmed when we will see IA implemented in the Assetto Corsa Early Access version, but knowing the teasing tactics of the team, it might be sooner then we think.
Assetto Corsa is being designed to provide a very realistic driving experience, with single player and multiplayer options, officially licensed cars and tracks developed using Laser scan technology, and the highest level of accuracy possible in reproducing real world motor racing environments. Also, Assetto Corsa will allow for considerable customisation and modification, in order to satisfy the expectations of professional sim racers, gamers who prefer to approach the driving experience more progressively, and hobbyists who just like to collect lots of cars and tracks.
