iRacing – 2017 Dallara P217 LMP2 Sneak Peek In-game Shot
A few weeks ago, iRacing teased its members with a 3D-model of what looked to be a 2017 Dallara P217 LMP2 car, further stating that this car will #soon become part of their online racing service.
Now it seems that the #soon was not an exaggeration. iRacing shared a sneak peek screenshot showing us the 2017 Dallara P217 LMP2 model in-game at the Silverstone circuit.
The Dallara P217 is a Le Mans Prototype racing car built by the Italian Dallara Automobili company, complying with 2017/2020 FIA/ACO regulations for the Le Mans Prototype LMP2 class.
It currently is active in the FIA World Endurance Championship and the European Le Mans Series. Gibson Technology is the exclusive engine supplier. Therefore, all the LMP2 cars are powered by a Gibson 4.2-liter naturally-aspirated V8 engine, producing around 600 bhp.
In the USA, a Daytona Prototype International variant of the car has been developed in partnership with General Motors, under the Cadillac brand, meeting the regulations for the Le Mans Prototype 2 Class of the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship.
The American Daytona Prototype International class (DPi) cars are based on the 2017 LMP2 rules but are allowed to feature custom bodywork and road car manufacturer engines.
