iRacing – New Content - Watkins Glen International Re-Build

We continue our look at the currently deploying 2022 Season 1 Build for the iRacing online racing platform.

The new update introduces some interesting new content, including a virtual version of the Porsche Experience Center situated at the German Hockenheimring racing circuit, both the Hyundai Elantra N TC and Honda Civic Type R Touring Cars, and the star of this build, the Mercedes-AMG F1 W12 E Performance Formula 1 car.

Besides the new content, iRacing also deployed a new fully re-built of the Watkins Glen International circuit using brand new up-to-date 2021 laser scan data.

Watkins Glen International is an American motor road course located in the beautiful Finger Lakes Region of Upstate New York. The track commonly nicknamed “The Glen” has been entertaining racing fans since 1948. NASCAR, IndyCar, Formula One, Can-Am, and every major sports car series have all raced at the Glen over the years.

The venue hosted the FIA Formula One World Championship for twenty seasons, from 1961 until 1980. Watkins Glen would also be the last purpose-built race circuit to host the United States Grand Prix until the completion of the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas. Nowadays, “The Glen” hosts the NASCAR and many top professional and amateur sports car races as well as a major vintage race meet.
