iRacing – New Dallara P217 LMP2 in-Game Preview Screenshot
At the beginning of August iRacing teased its members with a sneak peek screenshot showing the 2017 Dallara P217 LMP2 model in-game.
Now the iRacing development team shared a new in-game preview picture via their social media channels showcasing the Dallara P217 LMP2 in action at the British Silverstone Circuit.
Because the car model already seems to be in a completed state, and the post was captioned “Who’s ready?”, we are tempted to believe that a release date might soon be announced.
The Dallara P217 is a Le Mans Prototype racing car built by the Italian Dallara Automobili company, complying with 2017/2020 FIA/ACO regulations for the Le Mans Prototype LMP2 class.
It currently is active in the FIA World Endurance Championship and the European Le Mans Series. Gibson Technology is the exclusive engine supplier. Therefore, all the LMP2 cars are powered by a Gibson 4.2-liter naturally-aspirated V8 engine, producing around 600 bhp.
In the USA, a Daytona Prototype International variant of the car has been developed in partnership with General Motors, under the Cadillac brand, meeting the regulations for the Le Mans Prototype 2 Class of the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship.
The American Daytona Prototype International class (DPi) cars are based on the 2017 LMP2 rules but are allowed to feature custom bodywork and road car manufacturer engines.
