In a quest to further bridge real-world motorsport with virtual racing, iRacing announced they have reached a multi-year agreement with Cosworth to incorporate the acclaimed Cosworth Pi Toolbox to be used as the official data analysis platform of iRacing.
The Cosworth Pi Toolbox is the same real-time data technology used in IndyCar and WEC, enabling instant data sharing between drivers, engineers, and coaches.
The feature will be freely available for all active iRacing users. Alongside the PC version, the Cosworth branding will also be extended to iRacing’s upcoming console games on PlayStation and Xbox ecosystems, including iRacing Arcade, and the upcoming officially licensed NASCAR and IndyCar games.
Furthermore, iRacing officially announced new iRacing competition formats to be launched this September, including the ‘Cosworth Cup’ series, and a new series for the upcoming iRacing Arcade version.
The iRacing / Cosworth partnership will officially be unveiled at iRacing’s season launch on 9 September, with series participation and Pi Toolbox access going live from 16 September.
For avid motorsport fans, the name Cosworth needs no introduction. The British automotive engineering company has a rich history specializing in high-performance internal combustion engines, powertrains, and electronics for the motorsport industry.
Most noticeably, Cosworth racked up 176 wins in Formula One as an engine supplier. Cosworth also manufactures a lineup of high-tech racing car steering wheels, such as the CCW Mk2, CCW Mk3, and the CAN Formula steering wheel.
This partnership represents a big step forward in Cosworth’s ongoing mission to democratise data for drivers at every level, said Florian Kamelger, CEO of Cosworth. By combining our industry-leading Pi Toolbox platform with iRacing’s immense reach and technical credibility, we’re empowering a new wave of talent to unlock performance through data, whether they’re racing virtually or in the real world.
We’re excited to welcome Cosworth as an official data analysis partner of iRacing, said Tony Gardner, President of iRacing. Our engineers have asked for more powerful tools to develop race cars and better understand complex performance data, and here Cosworth has risen to the challenge. Together, we’ve created a system that bridges the virtual and physical racing worlds using a single telemetry platform. This is a game-changer for sim racers of all skill levels.
This is more than just a partnership – it’s a performance ecosystem, said Tom Brown, Head of Product and Solutions at Cosworth. From grassroots esports to professional-level simulation, we’re delivering tools that don’t just replicate the real-world experience; they are the real-world experience. This collaboration enables us to offer the ultimate platform for performance analysis, training, and development, supporting both today’s racers and the next generation of drivers and engineers. It’s a powerful step forward that reinforces Cosworth’s role in shaping the future of racing, on and off the track.
