Next week, on December 9th, iRacing will deploy its Saison 1 2026 build for the iRacing Online racing platform. Alongside the usual list of features, fixes, and improvements, the build will also introduce exciting new track and car content, including the new Porsche 911 Cup (992.2), which will be granted to all iRacers who already have the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (992.1).
iRacing allready showed us a render and some in-game preview screenshots of the new 911, and now posted a video showcasing both external and cockpit footage of the new Porsche GT3 in action in his native habitat.
The model will feature the latest spec of dry and wet tires in line with the prior GT3 and GT4 tire updates developed in conjunction with real-world drivers and engineers of the 911 Cup.
The Porsche 992.2 will instantly take the place of the current iRacing Porsche Cup car in all competition levels, updating the official series to the most recent real-world specifications.
Porsche 911 Cup (992.2)
The Porsche 911 Cup (992.2) is the latest evolution of Porsche’s successful one-make cup race car, replacing the previous 992-generation GT3 Cup. It is a highly refined, naturally aspirated race car designed for various Porsche Carrera Cup championships and the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup, debuting in the 2026 racing season. The 911 Cup (992.2) is designed to be faster, tougher, more cost-efficient for teams, and simpler for drivers to operate, continuing Porsche’s tradition of developing a dedicated, high-performance one-make cup car.
The car is powered by a water-cooled, naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six boxer engine, based on the series-production 911 GT3 unit. The new engine is developed to run on an eFuel blend for a significant reduction in CO2 emissions, aligning with a focus on sustainability. Yet, the power output has now increased to approximately 382 kW (520 hp), a 10 hp gain over its predecessor. All this power is transferred to the rear wheels via a Porsche six-speed sequential dog-type gearbox with paddle shift and a mechanical limited-slip differential. Furthermore, the powertrain features a more robust four-disc sintered metal racing clutch, allowing for higher engine speeds at a standing start.
