Jaguar Unveils Its New Virtual Electric Race Car – The Jaguar Vision Gran Turismo SV

The Vision Gran Turismo project started with a single question from Gran Turismo founder Kazunori Yamauchi: “Would you design your rendition of the ideal GT for us?”. Many manufacturers accepted the offer, and now there are many “ideal” Grand Touring cars represented in the game.

Vision Gran Turismo by Polyphony Digital Inc. began as a project to celebrate the game’s 15th anniversary, continues to bring together the automotive passions of the user, and the car companies. The cars have been introduced one at a time throughout the Gran Turismo series, and the project will only increase in popularity as more and more people sample these unique machines.

The latest addition to the Vision Gran Turismo project comes from Jaguar. They have now unveiled their new virtual Electric Vehicle racing car in the form of the Jaguar Vision Gran Turismo SV.

This futuristic racer was created by Jaguar Design and engineered by Jaguar SV (Special Vehicles), who also build a full-scale model of the car. The Jaguar Vision Gran Turismo SV is based on the Jaguar Vision Gran Turismo Coupé which was revealed in 2019.

The Jaguar Vision Gran Turismo SV is the boldest interpretation yet of an all-electric Jaguar endurance racer.

The powertrain has been upgraded with a fourth additional motor added on top of the three motors seen in the coupé model. These power units packing all the know-how gained in Jaguar’s Formula E activity produce 1903ps (1400kW) of power and 3360Nm of torque.

Its top speed is an astonishing 255mph (approx. 410km/h). The lithium-ion batteries that provide the electrical power is thermally controlled with a liquid nitrogen cooling system, and ensures that its performance will not degrade no matter how many laps or hours the car is driven.

As with the coupé model, the car’s allure in terms of styling is of course its beautiful proportions inspired by the legendary C-type and D-type racing models of Jaguar, but it now incorporates a new front splitter, an underbody that produces a Venturi effect, and a large rear wing.
