KW Studios announced that three new BMW cars will be added to the RaceRoom Racing Experience car portfolio. The first two cars already confirmed are the BMW M2 CS Racing, and the BMW M4 GT4 (G82).

Now KW announced the BMW M8 GTE as the third car in the content drop. All three cars will become available this Wednesday.

The BMW M8 GTE is an endurance grand tourer (GT) car developed in late 2016. The car made its debut in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and the FIA World Endurance Championship for the 2018 season. The M8 GTE replaced the BMW M6 GTLM and marked BMW Motorsport’s return to the 24 Hours of Le Mans after a six-year hiatus. The car is based on the road-going BMW M8.

The M8 GTE is powered by a front-mid mounted BMW n63/1 turbocharged V8 engine, the motorsport variant of the S63 motor found in roadgoing BMW models such as the F90 M5 and the BMW 8 Series (G15). The engine’s capacity was reduced from 4.4 liters to 4 liters to comply with regulations for the GTE class.

The car competed until the end of the 2021 season and BMW retired it from competition. BMW North America sold two of the five chassis owned for display and historical racing purposes.

First released back in February 2013, out of the ashes of a well-regarded racing game developer, SimBin Studios, the core RaceRoom Racing Experience racing simulator is Free-To-Play and can be installed from this Steam link, with commercial add-ons available via the RaceRoom Store.
