Sector3 Studios reveals Unreal Engine 4 Powered RaceRoom Screenshots

Yesterday Sector3 Studios posted an article announcing that they are on the lookout for extra staff. Especially a Lead C++ Programmer, C++ Programmer, and a C# Backend Programmer with Unreal Engine 3 and 4 experienceThis indicated that the good people of Sector 3 Studios may well have future plans in mind.

Soon after, a picture (see below)  leaked on the web, indicating that Sector3 Studios where experimenting with a new graphics engine, being Unreal Engine 4.  While this was merely a rumor, the speculation has now been confirmed by the CEO and Studio Head of Sector 3, Chris Speed.

In hindsight of the recent ‘leak’ I thought it would be best to post something here for you guys.

What I can confirm is that we have a very small team investigating and evaluating newer technologies for the future as we always need to keep ourselves up to date with what’s out there and consider our options for whatever the future may bring. We are not working on a new game at this moment and RaceRoom remains our primary focus.

The leaked image is a very early and quite honestly not a very flattering one so it’s only right that I share with you something more recent and up to date. ( above picture)

Chris Speed clearly states that at this point, the leaked graphic was the result of an R&D team experimenting with new technologies, and by no means an indication that Sector 3 Studios are working on a new game title.

However, due to the opening of new positions at Sector 3 for programmers with experience in the Unreal Game Engine, it seems likely that the development is further ahead than has been stated.

Furthermore, the need for a new graphics engine is unavoidable. With the current DX9 engine unable to support the latest hardware such as VR headsets, developers are being forced to look at upgrading their graphics engines to DX11 standards.

As said, Chris Speed posted a screenshot of a BMW Z4 GT3 at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit during a night race. Sadly enough he did not hint the fact that this is a future development of the current RaceRoom Racing Experience title or a very early development screen of a new product. We will let yoy know when we receive more info.

Nevertheless, the posted screens are already looking pretty impressive and gives us a good indication of what Sector 3 could bring us in the near future. GTR3 anyone?
