Team Redline interview at the SimRacing EXPO 2015

For most sim racers out there, Team Redline needs no introduction. For the last few years, they are known as the most successful sim racing team ever and are made up out of a selection of the fastest sim racers on the planet.

Team Redline was founded in May 2000 and rapidly became the sim racing team to beat. The Fanatec sponsored team has won over 100 individual and team based championships from the top levels of sim racing, ranging from iRacing, Grand Prix Legends, Nascar titles, GTR 1 and 2, rFactor, iRacing, Toca 2, Gran Turismo, Richard Burns Rally as well as many F1 titles.

Lately, also real world racing drivers have been added to the team, blurring the line between virtual and real world motorsports. Younger generation racing drivers such as Aston Martin WEC driver Richie Stanaway, Blancpain GT3 driver Nick Catsburg, ADAC GT driver Kelvin Van Der Linde and recently Dutch F1 talent Max Verstappen have joined the team and clearly show that home simulators can add a value to their real world racing careers.

While we do agree that certain parts of a real racing experience can’t (yet) be simulated, it is now clear that the PR and media coverage part of a modern racing career, and the mental, tactical and track recognisance sessions in a simulator can be beneficial to the driver.
