Last Month, four online championship event finalists and six sim racers pre-selected by a panel of experts headed to the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking Surrey England fighting for the grand finale of the World’s Fastest Gamer competition, where they had a shot ultimate job in eSports, the chance to become one of McLaren’s official simulator drivers.
The Mclaren judging panel crowned the 25-year-old Dutch sim racer, Rudy Van Buren the inaugural winner of the McLaren World’s Fastest Gamer competition.
Rudy Van Buren battled his way through over 30,000 entrants in the World’s Fastest Gamer competition to end up in the grand finale. In the final stretch, while being evaluated using the McLaren F1 simulator, Rudy Van Buren beat fellow Dutchman Freek Schothorst. With this victory, Rudy has claimed one of the most coveted eSports prizes ever, as he will become one of McLaren’s official Formula 1 simulator drivers.
Alan Boiston of TeamVVV sat down with Rudy Van Buren to talk about the ongoings in the final week, and how it felt to win this amazing competition.
