WRC & FIA will Use WRC 9 For Rally Talent Scouting

WRC 9, the upcoming new version of the FIA World Rally Championship’s official video game, has been selected as the tool to discover the WRC’s stars of tomorrow.

The FIA and WRC are partnering with WRC 9 publisher Nacon and developer KT Racing to help a selection of talented youngsters start their rally career by funding their drives in the WRC’s support categories. In December 2020, Nacon will release the FIA Rally Star DLC that will let the consoles and PC gamers compete in a multi-phase selection process before the first WRC 9 FIA Rally Star qualification phase starts in 2021.

The competition is open to all WRC 9 players between 17 and 26 years old and will give the most promising drivers the opportunity to take part in a training and coaching program based on the French Federation’s Rallye Jeunes program supervised by the FIA. Seven finalists, including one female driver, could ultimately start their international career before aiming to join the FIA Junior WRC.

Being innovative and global, FIA Rally Star’s ambition is to develop new solutions allowing young drivers from all over the world to reveal their potential. As soon as we introduced the project to NACON and KT Racing teams, they showed great enthusiasm and we couldn’t have hoped for a better platform than WRC 9 to select the most promising candidates declared FIA Rally Director Yves Matton.

The FIA World Rally Championship brings together fans from every continent. Many of them dream to get behind the wheel and our wish is to make our sport more accessible. Through FIA Rally Star and its digital version in WRC 9, living this passion is simpler than ever.

The idea that the future stars of rally will start their professional driving careers because of WRC 9 is very exciting for the entire team and one of the best rewards for all the work we have put in over the last few years, said Roman Vincent, Founder, and CEO of KT Racing development studio. After the success of eSports WRC, which has already unearthed hugely talented players, we can’t wait to find out who will be the finalists of FIA Rally Star!

WRC 9 will introduce multiple improvements and new features that will excite rally gaming enthusiasts. Kylotonn promises an even more realistic game experience, an enhanced and more challenging Career mode, enhanced gameplay mechanics, new opportunities to upgrade your team, and a wider variety of events and a stronger link to what the real-world championship teams are doing throughout the year.

The new iteration of the game will feature 3 new rallies (Kenya, Japan, New Zealand), and over 15 classic cars and 100 special stages.

Nacon and French video game developer Kylotonn will release WRC 9  the official video game of the FIA World Rally Championship on September 3rd for the PC, Xbox One, and PS4.

Release dates for the Xbox Series X, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch will be announced at the appropriate time. Keep in mind that the Digital Download PC version will not become available on Steam, but will be distributed via the Epic Games Store.
