A Look At The Asetek Forte Formula Steering Wheel

Yesterday the Danish Asetek company officially introduced its new series of Direct Drive wheelbases, and now shows us the Forte Formula Steering Wheel which will be the first standalone Asetek rim to be released.

The Forte Formula Steering Wheel was developed from the ground up, to meet both a high-quality and a fair price target. The wheel rim is built up around an injection molded chassis with a carbon, glass, and plastic composite material, providing a very high natural rigidity and strength. To further strengthen the chassis, and enhance the esthetics, the front plate is made out of a 1mm woven carbon plate

To enhance the overall usability and to stiffen the wheel, the chassis features a metal spider interface inside. A nice feature of the Forte Formula Steering Wheel is the ability to change and/or upgrade the handles. This design feature lets you quickly implement future upgrades, including color, size, shape, and hardness.

The handles are made out of a comfortable, soft, and durable silicone rubber, that is easy to clean and disinfect, and will give you ultimate comfort and control, regardless of whether you are wearing racing gloves or not. Asetek will retail two different sizes, being a regular size for average-size hands, and an XL version for larger hands. Furthermore, the user can easily change or add clutches, and DRS paddles.

The Asetek Forte Formula Steering Wheel sports 128 individual input options, featuring 12 push buttons, two 2-way toggle switches, two 7-way kinky switches, three rotary encoders, and six thumb encoders. The acclaimed RaceHub software gives you the option to customize and map all buttons, switches, encoders, and paddles.

The Forte wheel features no less than 49 fully customizable ARGB LEDs including rev and flag lights, allowing you to customize the look of your steering wheel. The LEDs can be adjusted, dimmed, color customized, and mapped in via the RaceHub software, with more features to come in the near future. Each button and LED can be clearly marked via the provided sticker sheet, giving a backlit label for each function on your wheel.

The rear of the wheel houses two contactless magnetic shifter paddles and is easily upgradeable to a dual-clutch as well as two additional mappable paddles that, for example, can be used for effortless overtake and DRS activation. All paddles and associated mechanics are, like the wheel chassis itself, injection molded with an ultralight and stiff carbon composite material.

The Asetek Forte Formula Steering Wheel will be available for pre-order starting this week for the price of €580.79 + shipping.
