Feel VR – Direct Drive Wheel And LC Pedals For Less Than $400?
Now and then, a product hits the market that looks too good to be true, and sadly enough, in 99% of the time, it is.
One of those products is the recently announced Direct Drive Wheel and accompanying Load Cell Pedal set by Ukrainian developers Feel VR. While on its own, this is nothing out of the ordinary, the actual announce price for the product can make you raise a few eyebrows.
The Feel VR Direct Drive Wheelbase, Load Cell equipped 3-Pedals set, Power supply, GT Steering Wheel, extra F1 Steering Wheel, and the USB connection cable are announced with an introductory price of US$ 388. Yes, you are reading that correctly. Less than $400 for the full bundle. The stand-alone DD wheel is advertised for very modest $399, while the stand-alone pedal set is listed for an insane $99.
At the moment, there are little or no technical details shared, but it is reported that the wheel puts out 12Nm of torque which is somewhat less than an average Direct Drive wheel but still way more than a normal belt-driven unit. The software that drives the hardware is supposedly developed by the Israeli AppReal-VR software development company.
For the moment, the products are still in development and aspiring customers are able to keep track of the progress by subscribing to a mailing letter. Currently, the Feel VR team did not yet announce an official release date.
While this is all very promising, we would recommend you not to send out your hard earned cash too soon. This might as well be the real deal, but we are a little skeptic about the pricing model. It is not the first time we have witnessed a hype-train passing by in the sim racing scene. We will keep you posted when more information becomes available.
