Gran Turismo Sport 4K Video Footage – Porsche 911 GT3 RS

Due to the former exclusive licensing deal between EA Games and Porsche AG, the previous iterations of the Polyphony Digital title had to make use of a RUF Automotive model as a substitute for the famous German brand. Those days are now over. With most major Racing game / Simulator titles now featuring Porsche models, the king of console racers could not stay behind.

Just over two weeks ago, the official European Sony Entertainment Press portal posted six stunning in-game screenshots showing screenshots of a Porsche 911 GT3 RS in GT Sport, confirming that the iconic brand from Stuttgart would become part of the latest iteration of the Gran Turismo franchise. Now Sony Interactive Entertainment and developer Polyphony Digital have published the first video footage showing us actual gameplay and a replay of two Porsche 911 GT3 RS cars in action on the Nürburgring Nordschleife track.

While most developers are bringing us Porsches by means of commercial DLC packages, Gran Turismo Sport will feature Porsche content in their base content.

Polyphony Digital commented:

We are really excited about our newly-formed partnership. Porsche have been exhibiting exemplary strength in motorsports, and with its many victories in endurance racing, they’re famous for being the “King of Endurance”. The vehicle names, all derived from races such as the Carrera, Targa and Panamera, are a direct sign of the deep historical relationship running alongside motorsport, which has always been part of Porsche’s DNA. The manufacturer’s involvement is less about prestige, but a matter of principle for the continuous improvement of their products with technology deriving from motorsports.

Similarly, in recent years Polyphony’s relationship with real world motorsports has been increasing, with series Producer Kazunori Yamauchi participating in the Nürburgring 24 Hour race and the upcoming FIA Gran Turismo Championships.

Both Polyphony and Porsche share a common principle and philosophy in promoting sustainable motoring across the next generation. Sports car fans who dreamt of getting behind the wheel of a Porsche through Gran Turismo Sport can now look forward to it later this year.

Besides the video footage, Polyphony also supplied 4 new in-game screenshots showing us the stunning eye-candy generated by the latest Gran Turismo game engine. Check them out below.

At the time of writing, the 911 GT3 RS is the only Porsche model confirmed, but it is more than likely that other models will be included in the license deal. we will keep you posted when more info becomes available.

Gran Turismo Sport will be a new iteration of the world-renown racing simulation franchise.
