Razer Carcharia Headset

Headsets might not be the first thing when you think about Sim Racing Hardware, but still, almost all of us use them, and some of us might wear out a few units a year. So now Darin Gangi and Jason Dunnington of Inside Sim Racing are reviewing the Razer Carcharia Headset. This headset is targeted at the Xbox 360 market, but is perfectly usable on a PC system.

With wireless sets, the problem often is the fact that you will have to rely on Batteries. The Razer Carcharia wireless headset utilises 2 AAA Batteries giving you a Battery Life Up To 12 Hours. This should be more than enough to overcome sudden loss of power. The included base station doubles up as a charging dock and storage unit to keep your Razer Chimaera ready.

Another headset problem we encounter a lot is the comfort when wearing a set for longer times. It could become painful on the ears. In this case the Razer Carcharia has extra soft circumaural ear cups that should overcome any annoyances. The Headset also comes with a selection of cable convertors such as RCA to 3.5mm cable and 2.5mm to 2.5mm cable to easily hook it up to various units.Note that If you want to use HDMI you will have to have to use the RCA audio out on your screen, or use a Xbox 360 audio adapter. The power, sync, mic mute, and overall volume mute buttons are all backlit and a somewhat useless, but yet cool feature is that the Razer logo on the outside of each earcup will light up when in use.

The Razer Carcharia Headset retails for around €87 ($120). More info at http://www.razerzone.com/gaming-audio/razer-chimaera/
