Fanatec – Thomas Jackermeier Interview by GameReactor

On November 19th, 2016, Kunos Simulazioni celebrated their official partnership with Porsche AG with a stunning event at the Autodromo di Vallelunga which is the headquarters of the Italian Assetto Corsa developer.

The Porsche event was attended by a selection of international gaming and automotive journalists, and some key personalities from the sim racing industry. Porsche AG, were present at the event with their Driving Academy and official representatives. One of the industry guests at the event was Thomas Jackermeier, CEO of Endor AG who you may know as the manufacturer of the Fanatec sim racing hardware brand.

GameReactor met up with Thomas to talk about the new CSL line of Fanatec products and reveals that they are also checking out the possibility to market an affordable high-end motion simulator system. Last but not least, it is also confirmed that Fanatec will be releasing at least one VR related product.

Moving on to the console related news, Thomas explained why Fanatec did not receive initial official support on the PlayStation 4 and now reveals that after signing a new agreement with Sony, Fanatec will be developing a new official racing wheel for the PS4. While Thomas could not share any in-depth details about the product, he did state that the new PS4 wheel will be compatible with the existing range of Fanatec pedals and shifters. The new secret PS4 wheel should arrive in 2017 before the release of Gran Turismo Sport.

While this was a very interesting interview, the journalist we missed one obligatory question… Is there a Fanatec Direct Drive Wheel in the making? Time will tell.
